drug testing question - Squatster - 08-30-2023

Drug testing
Why do they check creatinine levels?
Would they check for steroids?
Anything in GW501516 that t would make you fail ?
Would anything bring up the creatinine to a point where they would check for other drugs?
My boy has the drug testing every few to every week, they get him for $80 each test
He has
winstrol
Anavar
CW501516
I don't want him going back in
90 days in county jail for drunk driving

Squatster my brother, I think you may be confusing creatinine with creatine. Creatinine levels are measured to check kidney health and to make sure the body is getting rid of waste products. Creatinine is a waste byproduct of creatine, and high creatine supplementation can increase creatinine levels but usually doesn’t throw any false markers unless you are over supplementing.

Just to add to this, creatinine is a terrible biomarker because it can not only be influenced by creatine, but also muscle mass and age. For a more accurate test in kidney function, use cystatin C. I was borderline with eGFR using creatinine which was of great concern to my PCP who thought I might have CKD, when I had him redo the test with Cystatin C, I was fine. And yes, I'm an old fart at 63.

Quote:Similarly, the present study also revealed that cystatin C is found to be more accurate than creatinine in estimating GFR with 96.8% sensitivity, compared with a sensitivity of 61.3% for creatinine in patients >60 years.
